The Skunkworks has become a term used to describe an abundant setting for the incubation of projects, set free from the normal overhead of management, and lead by a small and informally organized team. Originating in the mid 20th century at a time when the development of a specific radical new design was a top priority, the word continues to appear in the context of design that is willing to try unusual routes at the risk of failure.

To me, the work represented here aspires to this mode of thinking. There is a time in the process of design when new approaches are readily proposed and scrapped, well before any major investments are made. The turnover is quick, and the failures are immediate, or the trace of a great idea begins.
